The Great Wall of China stretches an impressive 13,170.7 miles or 21196.18 kilometers and is the longest man-made structure in the world.
Although it is not visible from space with the naked eye, it can be seen with special instruments. Thousands of laborers contributed to the wall's construction, with an estimated 1 million laborers dying during the process, leading to the Great Wall being known as The Longest Graveyard in the World. Rumors suggest that their bodies are buried within the walls, but no remains have been found.
The Great Wall is both a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the 7 New Wonders of the World. A marathon is held every May at the Huangyaguan Great Wall in the Jizhou District of Tianjin, and the I was able to participate in the 2019 race. Photos and videos from the Great Wall Half Marathon can be found on My Land Adventures website.
